Overview
This weekend's Reiki retreat is an initiation into relational Reiki — a practice where Reiki is learned within a living field, not as a technique between practitioner and recipient. It is not about doing Reiki; it’s about entering a relationship with the Living Field and all that is in and off it, including horses, water, and the natural landscape of our location.
You will leave the weekend with a Reiki I/Holy Fire® III certification and a deep sense of connection and healing.
Core Principles
Coherence precedes communion. Reiki is not a series of hand positions; it’s a way of entering relationship.
Presence is the first healing. Reiki is one expression of that presence.
Presence is the connection to the alignment with the self, the universe, and the universal current which flows through the Living Field.
The Role of the Horses
The horses do not teach us Reiki; they reveal the quality of being and presence from which Reiki naturally flows. They are respected participants in a shared field, free to say yes, no, or not today. They help participants discover and amplify the quality of presence, the heart field, and the connection from which Reiki flows.
The horses are co-teachers and mirrors, if they choose to participate. They are not an application of Reiki; they are part of the teaching.

Meet your Guides
RiverStar’s (Emily Peterson) relationship with Reiki began through her own healing journey, revealing the subtle intelligence flowing within and between all living beings. Drawn to its gentle yet profound capacity to restore balance and reconnect body and spirit, she became a certified Usui/Holy Fire® III Karuna Reiki Master Teacher. Reiki became one of the foundational languages through which RiverStar understands healing: not as something imposed upon another being, but as a living exchange arising through presence, consent, and relationship.
Her path expanded to include shamanic healing, trauma-responsive somatic practice, breathwork, meditation, and yin yoga. As a shaman and the creator of New Paradigm Yin — The Way of the Waters™, RiverStar brings particular attention to the nervous system, the wisdom of the body, and the unseen relational field. Her work helps people ground spiritual knowing in the body while allowing the body to remember its place within the soul.
Having grown up with horses and returned to them after many years away, RiverStar discovered that their presence brought these teachings into deeper embodiment. She experiences horses not as instruments of healing, but as sentient partners within the living field—beings whose sensitivity, coherence, and vast heart presence invite more honest relationship with ourselves, one another, the Earth, and the energy moving through all life.
Through 3H — Human • Horse • Harmonics™, RiverStar creates consent-based experiences in which humans and horses meet in reciprocity. Her teaching is grounded in the understanding that Reiki is not separate from the living world: it is a way of listening, relating, and participating more consciously with the field to which we all belong.
Spencer Catani- Founder of Amazing Grace Equine Healing
Spencer Catani's deep interest in spiritual healing led her to Reiki treatments. Once she experienced the profound impact of this unseen energy that flows through all living things, she studied to become a certified Usui/Holy Fire Reiki Master practitioner.
To bridge her life-time partnership with horses, Spencer also pursued certifications in Animal Reiki I and II.
Reiki was the portal that ushered Spencer into the vast and powerful dimension of energy healing. Over the past decade, Spencer has also been a student of the teachings of Alana Fairchild, a creative visionary and spiritual teacher, and has earned practitioner status in the modalities The Kuan Yin Transmission — based on divine feminine energy work — and Saraswati Healing — integrative light work with enlightened beings.
In 2025, Spencer founded Amazing Grace Equine Healing Practice to share her deep understanding of the healing power of horses with the support of divine healing energy.
